Heroic narrative is a long loved popular narrative. Heroic narrative is related with contemporary social context because of heroes are made by social demands. Feature animation <Hong Gildong> is public narrative about the hero created in 1960s that a lot of confusion and awakening occurred, so This is a subject that can show the relationship between popular literature and society. The public has layered characters that implies conservative views and resistance to it at the same time. So Feature animation <Hong Gildong>, the popular literature, has a layered characters on narrative, too. <Hong Gildong> has the image of the "nation" in the sense that people unite to overcome difficulties by themselves. This is to obtain the identity through the power of group while to show passivity to accommodate the dominant ideology. On the one hand, Hong Gildong adapt to the authority of the Father while dismantle the patriarchal order. Semantic duplicity of the work reflects the psychology of the contemporary public about measures for the contemporary regimes acquire legitimacy. In this sense, Feature animation can be said to reveal the properties and dynamics of the public in contemporary Korea.
