AB - 고 사진실 교수는 한국 궁중연희를 체계적으로 연구하였을 뿐만 아니라, 전통연희 제작현장에도 지대한 관심을 가졌던 학자이다. 그러나 불행하게도 만 50이 되던 2015년 8월에 유명을 달리하였다. 그런데 짧은 삶과는 달리, 사진실 교수는 생전에 전통연희를 포함한 한국연극에 대한 저작물과 공연제작에 관한 아이디어를 다수 제출하였다. 필자는 부군의 협조 하에, 그 저작물과 각종 아이디어들을 모아 2017년에 ‘전통연희 시리즈’라는 이름으로 9권을 발간하였다. 이 시리즈에는 고 사진실 교수가 한국의 전통연희(더 나아가서는 한국연극)에 주었던 세 가지 시선, 즉 ‘한국연극과 연극문화에 대한 사적(史的) 저술, 전통연희의 현대적 재현과 창조(즉 ’전통연희의 창조적 재현‘), 전통연희를 체계적으로 교육하기 위한 매뉴얼 제작’에 대한 시선이 구체적으로 제시되어 있다. 따라서 전통연희 연구자, 전통연희 제작 및 기획자, 전통연희 교육자들에게 ‘전통연희 시리즈 1~9’는 유용한 설계도 내지는 나침반이 되어줄 수 있을 것이다.
