ABSTRACT

This study started from problem-posing, what is reason <Geojeenmal>(The Lie) used old-fashioned material affairs, nevertheless <Geojeenmal>(The Lie) did not become old-fashioned drama. And it found answer of the problem-posing from distancing. This study named television-drama’s distancing of Noh Heekyung and Pyo Minsoo style that it stopped viewer from identifying with one character by looking various characters and positions objectively and equally. Then this study considered how <Geojeenmal>(The Lie) secured distancing in two aspects Noh Heekyung's playwriting method and Pyo Minsoo's direction method. First, in playwriting method it understood what <Geojeenmal>(The Lie) described mentality of deficient and good characters minutely and harmoniously and secured multi understanding about all characters through the way character viewpoint moves. Then, in direction method it paid attention to viewpoint of camera. <Geojeenmal>(The Lie) led viewer to watch all characters and situations instead of identifying with one character by moving viewpoint of camera for characters. And it embodied characters objectively and harmoniously by angle, distance, etc. of camera. Distancing that was secured in these ways formed objective and multiple understanding about all characters. And it got a diversion of thought that accepted affairs as love instead of punishing object. Hereby <Geojeenmal>(The Lie) made diversity and autonomy of way television-drama approached affairs.
