ABSTRACT

The Internet has created a space for people to express their thoughts freely. However, the anonymity of the Internet also produces an adverse effect of creating a new type of violence. The political community now creates “Fake News” and uses the Internet as a political platform to manipulate a situation to its advantage. By doing this, the positive plurality of the Internet space is destroyed. Furthermore, as there is no opportunity to freely express one’s own opinions, strictly speaking, it becomes impossible to take political action against the perpetrators of fake news. The current political scenario in Korea reveals a series of fake news to arouse public sentiment. Compared to the past, the target group has expanded and fake news is recklessly created. The drama Comment Warriors reenacts the comment manipulation incidents involving the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Defense Security Command (DSC). The drama can be connected to a political situation as it reenacts an actual event depicting a political issue and secures timeliness as it is linked to a problem that persists to this day. However, the interesting aspect of this drama lies in how the political views are shown paradoxically through characters without links to political actions or authority. Therefore, the paper identifies how the anti-political actions and the anti-authoritative aspects of the characters of Daetgeulbudae reveal the political views of the drama and how this allows the audience to recognize the meanings of political actions and authority.
