ABSTRACT

This study aims to understand the problems with the work data network with the National Theater Company of Korea Digital Archive presently serviced and propose a plan for the supplementation of them. Concretely, this study would focus on the work data and present substantive improvements that can reveal the specialty of the drama genre and the historicity of the National Theater Company of Korea. First, since the present design that reveals the relations of performances/activities- characters-people/organizations does not reveal that the characters embodied by actors started from the characters in the works, this study modified the definitions of the classes of the characters and set up the relations of works-characters-performances/activities-people /organizations. Through this, this study could easily understand the changed points in individual performances. Next, since there are insufficient networks on the contextual information surrounding the works in the present archive, this study would realize semantic relations surrounding the works, designing the relations between the works and the conceptual keywords and between the works and the planning. This study added ‘Concept,’ a class that could include the genres of works and performances and set up the elements utilized in the works and performances, such as theme, subject matter, genre, and performance type as data of relations to be able to draw a network of the themes and genres of the works selected by the National Theater Company of Korea. In addition, this study would design the planning information as a sub-type of event class and reveal the context of the planning that affected the selection of the works, connecting the planning information and work classes. Lastly, this study proposed a way of showing changes in groups of works, groups of artists, and concepts by connecting time information, works, artists, and concepts. Through this, users can effectively understand the aspects of changes in the networks, such as changes in the themes of the works, planning, and artists over the 70 years history of the National Theater Company of Korea. Hopefully, this study would help modify and supplement the National Theater Company of Korea Digital Archive through substantive suggestions for the plans for the construction of work networks, and hopefully, it would contribute to the construction of the drama archive in the future.
