ABSTRACT

This article examined the analysis of North Korean defectors' tendencies by period, focusing on the initial settlement process at the time of entry into North Korea, and applied seven fascinating merit models of Sally Hogshed. To this end, we analyzed how North Korean refugees who escaped North Korea entered each North Korean regime by time, and what kind of propensity they had during the initial settlement with the arrival of South Korea, the settlement. The first was to analyze the tendency of North Korean defectors to enter the North Korean regime. Mainly, the total number of North Korean defectors, the entry by age group of North Korean defectors, the entry into North Korean regions, the entry into North Korean educational backgrounds, and the entry into North Korean occupations were examined. Second, we analyzed the tendency of North Korean defectors to settle in Korea in the early stages. Mainly, Hanawon social adaptation education, government's settlement support system, distribution by domestic residence, social adaptation, and economic activity were examined. Therefore, this article attempted to present a policy proposal that could not only utilize the fascination advantage model to North Korean defectors through the analysis of North Korean defector propensity by period, but also to change the paradigm of the government's unification policy in the future.
