ABSTRACT

This article began with the thought of finding ways to compensate for and overcome the various flaws and problems faced by modern representative democracy. Therefore, I wanted to comprehensively define the various ways of democracy in which the people, who are sovereigns, become the main agents of politics, as autonomous democracy, and to find ways to supplement and overcome the representative system through research. Here we summarize the commonalities and characteristics of autonomous democracy through the pursuit of the theory and ideology of the people's self-politics that have existed in history. Therefore, I based on the concept of democratic autonomy of David Held, but emphasized the concept of" autonomy" as direct politics of the people who lacked it. In the above four autonomous democracies, the author defined a the level of people's control as people's autonomy. By comparing each autonomous democracy on the level of people's control, we will seek to find a way to overcome the representative system by combining the commonalities and characteristics of each autonomous democracy.
