ABSTRACT

This study is to generally analyze printing in Nam-won region whose printings areas were confirmed by colophon or records by edition, printing years, subjects and authors(or publisher) on the basis of the existing prints from Chosun Dynasty to the period before 1910. To examine printing by subjects, 118 kinds were wooden prints and 34 kinds were wooden type prints. To analyze printing by times, by printing editions, printing institutions, printing place, and authors(or publisher) are as follow:1) To analyze by subjects, collection of literature division(集部) were 45 kinds (29.6%), all philosophers and scholars division(子部) were 37 kinds(24.3%), historical division(史部) were 36 kinds(23.7%), the Confucius document division(經部) were 34 kinds(22.4%).2) To analyze by printing years, 24 kinds(45.3%) were printed in the 19th century. 12 kinds(22.6%) were printed in the 20th century. 4 kinds(7.5%) were printed in the 16th century and the 17th century.3) To analyze by printing places, most of prints in district were printed by unknown places as like 20 kinds(37.7%). And then government places were 17 kinds(32.1%). 53 kinds out of collected documents had indication of printing places. 5 kinds(9.4%) in Jaesil(齋室), 4 kinds(7.5%) in shrines and temples, 3 kinds(5.7%) in Boso(譜所). 4) To analyze by authors(or publisher), there were 5 kinds of the results. ⑴ government officials in the Nam-won, ⑵ famous Yangban, ⑶ persons of enshirne, ⑷ patriotic soldiers, ⑸ distinguished sage group.
