ABSTRACT

Hyo(孝) in the Joseon society was commonly emphasized in several social ideas. Therefore, to supply filial piety widely, the Books of Ethics such as 「Hyo-gyeong(孝經)」 and 「Samganghaengsildo(三綱行實圖)」, etc. were published and supplied. This study is aimed at the understanding of the consciousness of Hyo(孝) in the Joseon Dynasty period and the serving to the compilation and publication related to Hyo(孝) by comprehensively analyzing books concerning Hyo(孝) published during the Joseon Dynasty period. It's rather hard to certify what period and what routes 「Hyo-gyeong(孝經)」 was introduced into our land due to the lack of tangible records as yet, but it is estimated that the Book was introduced at least before the era of the Three States or unified Silla based on the records saying that the Book was adopted as a compulsory course of the national education institution during the era of the Three States(三國時代) already. Through the records revealed in bool plate catalogs, The book of Hyo(孝) introduced into our land was 「Hyogyeong(孝經)」 and 「Hyogyeong-Daeui(孝經大義)」 and their publication was not limited to the central government, but all through the country.
