AB - The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics and significance of Ch'onga-gugŭppang, a medical book for the public, written in the mid-Joseon Dynasty. In this study, the life and thought of Kim Jeong-guk who was a civil minister and an author of Ch'onga-gugŭppang, and the background of writing this book are examined.
Also, the literature cited in Ch'onga-gugŭppang are analyzed according to the symptoms and compared with the literature cited in Dongui-bogam which was a representative specialized medical book in the mid-Joseon Dynasty to document the value of Ch'onga-gugŭppang as a medical book for the public.
