And their characteristics different from those of general collections of works are also examined. Japyeonmunjips were published by either authors themselves or other people to hand down their works to posterity. The publication of japyeonmunjip was popular during the 17th and the 18th century, because of the need for preserving writings from wars and the changes in the perception of writing collections among intellectuals, including four great masters of Chinese writings, etc. When compared with general anthology, japyeonmunjips show differences in the aspects of a variety of contents, organization of contents, comments on works, and so on.
