ABSTRACT

Only two manuscripts of Kang Baeknyeon’s Okhamanrok exist. One manuscript which contains 23 items is currently owned by the C.V. Starr East Asian Library of UC Berkeley, and first introduced by me. The other manuscript is included in Hangosokjib, a book owned by Ewha Womens University Library. It has a total of 38 items. The incidents or the records on the characters may assist the future research. A bibliographic analysis of this book shows the following:First, the manuscript in Hangosokjib owned by the Ewha Womans University Library, is the original copy. Second, the book was finished after 1664. Third, there are forty differences in letters between the two manuscripts of Okhamanrok. Fourth, this book has cited books such as the Analects of Confucius, the Works of Mencius, the Doctrine of the Mean, and the Book of Changes. The history of China and old poetry were also cited. Finally, the contents about the incidents and the characters have a great value as historical records.
