AB - The writer, by reviewing their book annotations, investigated the academic values of the titles included in Haedong-munheon-chongnok, An Annotated Classified Bibliography of Korean Books, compiled by Kim Hyu in the 17th century. This paper examined various evaluation methods adopted in Haedong-munheon-chongrok, and then compared them to the book selection criteria applied by modern libraries. The writer found that the academic qualities of those books listed in Haedong-munheon-chongrok were even more excellent than the modern criteria for good books in the point of level of authors and contents.
