A Study of the Books Published at Bohyun Temple in Mt. Myohyang of Chosun Dynasty

ABSTRACT

In this study, we tried to analyze the book published in Bohyun Temple(普賢寺) in Chosun Dynasty. According to the study, we could know 45 kinds of the books were published in the temple. The analysed results are as follows ;1. The distribution by subject were JongYi(宗義) part were mainly 42%, they were mostly related with Zen sect(禪宗). 2. The books chiefly published between 16th and 18th century, especially books in 17th were majority of all. 3. Bohyun Temple publishing activity was divided 3 times. Among them 1680's is regarded as second phase, during that time lots of the Mahayana Sutras(大乘經典) and Zen(禪) related books were published. 4. The woodblocks moved to the temple were mainly from branch temples, but some of them were engraved in Gangwon provinces. 5. Engraver ‘Byul-Hoon(別訓)’ came from a head-monk soldier in 18th, he was a representative engraver in the temple.
