A Study on the Comprehensive Bibliography of Sago Collections of ‘Notes on the Use of a Book’ and ‘The Comments’ - Centering on Annotate of the Twenty Kinds of Rules -

ABSTRACT

This paper is to analyze Translation and commentary on the “Notes on the use of a book(「凡例」)” in Comprehensive Bibliography of Sago Collections(「四庫全書總目提要」), and also In order to understand the function of “The Comments(案語)”. The ‘Notes on the use of a book’ refer to the words that illustrate the selection standards, presentation style and content scope of the script, in front of Comprehensive Bibliography of Sago Collections. As the important part of “the analysis”, it account as a whole for the stylistic rules of the whole book, which shows its pros and cons. It conduce toward a better in-depth study on “the analysis” to analyse those pros and cons. In this paper, have interpreted the twenty kinds of “Notes on the use of a book” and translate with explanatory notes. “Notes on the use of a book” have a variety of functions, analysis and in many respects it was classified. “The Comments(案語)” illustrates, supplies and researches the departments of cases attached by rules which are not explained in Comprehensive Bibliography of Sago Collections. “The Comments” lies here and there attached to in have important contents and valus of style, which play a very important role in the following five aspects: interpreting or supplying “Notes on the use of a book”, and interpreting or supplying “Writing ideas”, and supplying introductions to “Analysis and commentary of the book”, and introducing “Classification of an item proving”, and interpreting to “Scholar of the origin and changes”, and supplying introductions to “authenticity of a document”. “The Comments” had a role, such as blood vessels in the body, and were connected to each other, and also embodying the Comprehensive Bibliography of Sago Collections in systematic in another way.
