AB - Ganghee Dictionary is the largest dictionary of characters in ancient times, which was edited in according with the imperial order of Ganghee in Chung times. It was made through integration of character dictionary of many generations, using the name Jajeon(字典) for the first time. This study was conducted as follows with the aim of investigating and analyzing domestic and foreign hereditary texts of Ganghee Dictionary and study on its modern utilization.
Firstly, there was study on the definition and classification of Jajeon in China and Korea and author, structure, and advantage and disadvantages of edition of Ganghee Dictionary and various texts of Ganghee Dictionary were studied.
Secondly, texts possessed by university libraries in addition to National Library of Korea and Kyujanggak were investigated and analyzed, and hereditary texts in China, Taiwan and the US were also studied and analyzed.
Thirdly, out of 13 types of texts owned by National Library of Korea, 5 types which were available with full-text DB, were comparatively analyzed.
Fourthly, for modern utilization of Ganghee Dictionary, electronic versions of Ganghee Dictionary as well as newly revised version and comparatively corrected version of Ganghee Dictionary were investigated.
