AB - This paper studied the China’s modern book-list Xixueshumubiao(西學書目表) about western learning which is written by Liang Qi-chao from bibliographic viewpoint and found out following facts. This book is made with four chapters which contains introduction.
Liang Qi-chao was leading enlightened campaign in the last days of Qing Dynasty, published Xixueshumubiao at 1896. He write about historic background and his book classification system in introduction. Xixueshumubiao is mainly about modern science book lists. The Main Chapter is classified as three categories 學(Natural Science)․政(Social Science)․雜(General Knowledge), and organized by 28 subjects. Western learning translation of before commercial treaty, not printed translation and compiled by the Chinese about Western, are listed in supplement.
the main chapter is cataloged by title, author, imprint, number of copy, price, notes, circle symbol. This items have following characteristic, such as indicating translations that recording translators and recording not volume number but copy number because of a book bound in Western style. It is marked price of the book for focusing on the purchase, and has notes and circle symbol for marking must-have books.
