AB - This is the study on the book publication in Choongchung Gamyoung where had been so far neglected compared to Wanyoung and Youngyoung, especially Geumyoung which was Gamyoung built in Gongju since 1602. In addition, the characteristics of book publication in Choongchung Gamyoung was supplemented upon investigation of Geumyoung printing woodblock that had not been known. Approximately 69 books were published in Gongju Gamyoung, of which 27 (about 39%) were the collections of literatures developed by Choongchung Governer. The publication methods by Gongju Gamyoung were not that different from the other Gamyoungs. Also, they showed the increase of collection publications since century but the decrease of them in 18th century, which is similar to the phenomenon appeared in Wanyoung. Unlike Wanyoung and Youngyoung, the books with heavy volume or medical books upon the Royal Order were not found in Geumyoung. Publications including the political intentions within the small contents had been increased in 18th century such as Chuneuisogam, Myungeuirok, various Ryuneum and Samok, etc., which was common in Wanyoung or Youngyoung. One of the characteristics in Geumyoung publication culture was the relation of Gongju Gamyoung with the temples including Magok temple, Youngeun temple, and Namhyul temple. Gamyoung, temples and the families living in Gongju were closed related; Magok temple with Jinju Gang family and Poongyang Cho family, and Youngeun temple with Dongbok Oh family. With this study, further study projects are anticipated such as interests in Gongju Gamyoung and publication culture in Choonchung, excavation of Gamyoung printing woodblock, conservation and utilization plans of woodblock in the Province.
