ABSTRACT

The woodblocks of Holly Pictures of Confucius’ Life Story (Gongbooja-seungjeukdo) were examined in Gwollisa Shrine in Hwaseong, Osan. The status of the woodblocks were introduced and the relevant editions were studied. The woodblock-printed edition of Gwollisa Shrine’s Holly Pictures of Confucius’ Life Story is the fastest edition in Korea. The woodblocks were made in 1904 and were corrected the following year in 1905. Printed books of Gwollisa Shrine’s edition are held in several locations. Among them, the collection of Jangseogak is a color scheme that distinguishes it. In addition to the books published by Gwollisa Shrine, there is also the Cha Gyu-beom’s editions. There is also a different title, but Gongbooja-soksoo-Ohrunhangsil is a book that adds names of good ‘Oriental Attitude’ person to Holly Pictures of Confucius’ Life Story.
