ABSTRACT

This study, which is a preliminary study for the systematization of the influx and transformation of Chinese books, examined the meaning of publishing culture history of Sachan which was compiled and published by Hullyeon Dogam in 1612. Sachan was a book which was transformed into the Joseon style through process of transformation by a group of people such as Yi Hangbok, Cho Wihan, Lee Deokhyung, and Yun Geunsoo with outstanding competences in politics, academics, and culture who read the Ming wood-block of Sagichan and Sagipyeonglim that were reflecting the academics and thought of Chinese people at that time and transformed them to their own. This book can derive the meaning of publishing culture history from the inflow of famous books and the production of independent texts, the acceptance of the school style of the retro-modernism at the end of Myeong Dynasty, the influence of the ancient literature school, the dissemination of books through Hullyeon Dogam, and the historical status of printing culture.
