ABSTRACT

The International Colonial Exposition of Vincennes in 1931 constitute a veritable realm of memory of the French colonial culture. In fact, it was, without doubt, and in a spectacular way, what is called today a colonial culmination. As a real fairy and precursory of amusement park, the exposition invited the public to the tour of the world in one day. Yet, it was by this imaginary voyage, totally contrived and reproduced according to hierarchy affirmed between ‘civilized’ world and ‘primitive’ world that the French was impregnated with the vision of colonial relation which is always benefit to Occident. The architecture and the general aesthetic of decoration contribute to the illusion that the French will remember for a long time.
