AB - This study presents six methods for reducing the failures of technology-type bidding projects based on focus group interviews and data analysis. The first method seeks to alleviate bidding problems caused by insufficient information on the construction’s conceptual design through a post-conceptual-design schematic design competition. The second method is the selection of the successful bidder for the schematic design as the preferred negotiator for the design development, construction documents, and construction. The third method is the selection of successful bidders based on their design evaluation scores, which expands the application of the fixed-price best-design method. The fourth method is the improvement of the calculation rate for the cost of compensation for smaller technology-type bidding projects. The fifth method is the expansion of the number of orders for technology-type bidding projects that are worth KRW 25–50 billion. The sixth and last method is the establishment of specific standards, such as a legal system for the conversion of a technical bid to a private contract, and the evaluation of design eligibility in a private contract. This study is expected to contribute to enhanced convenience in people’s lives and the implementation of government policies.
