Cities play a critical role in addressing climate change, and urban master plans, as guidingframeworks for subordinate plans, must effectively incorporate carbon neutrality strategies. This studydeveloped evaluation indicators for assessing such strategies in urban master plans and applied themto domestic cities, employing a hierarchical decision-making approach to determine indicator weights. Results show that cities such as Uijeongbu, Osan, and Yangju scored highly by establishing detailed energy conservation and efficiency targets, improving industrial technology and production systems,and formulating support plans for vulnerable populations. In contrast, Hwaseong, Guri, and Pajuscored lower due to insufficient energy targets, industrial technology improvements, and localrenewable energy development plans. While the “Greenhouse Gas Emission Status and Causes”indicator received high marks for its robust weighting and systematic data collection, indicators forinter-agency cooperation and vulnerable group support were notably underdeveloped. This studysuggests that clarifying urban master plan formulation guidelines and mandating key directives cansignificantly enhance their contribution to achieving the government’s carbon neutrality goals.

This study empirically investigates the impact of changes in urban spatial centrality on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Focusing on 20 cities and districts (si/gun/gu) within Gyeonggi Province, the study quantifies the shift from monocentric to polycentric structures by analyzing the distributional changes in centrality between 2010 and 2020. Centrality is measured using spatial autocorrelation indices-LISA, Getis-Ord G, G*, and Geary’s C-based on the distribution of employment. A spatial panel regression model, which accounts for both spatial interactions and temporal dynamics, is employed as the main analytical framework. In addition, scatterplot analyses are conducted to examine regional heterogeneity in responses. The results indicate that a higher degree of polycentricity is generally associated with an increase in Scope 1 direct GHG emissions. However, certain regions show a decline in emissions despite strengthened centrality, suggesting that changes in urban spatial structure do not yield uniform environmental effects across all areas. This highlights the contextual role of factors such as transportation infrastructure and industrial location as key moderating variables. By integrating spatial and temporal perspectives in the analysis of urban centrality, this study underscores the need for region-specific carbon reduction strategies tailored to urban structural dynamics.

This study investigates the transmission characteristics of outdoor noise into indoor Using road traffic noise as the baseline, both field measurements and simulation-based predictionswere conducted to evaluate the reliability of indoor noise transmission prediction methods. Resultsshowed that the line source model demonstrated superior predictive performance compared to thepoint source model, with prediction errors remaining within ±1 dB(A) on average. The averageindoor transmission coefficients for road and railway noise were -8.0 and -8.2 dB(A), respectively,attributed to the similar acoustic characteristics of both sources. The findings of this study provide a validated predictive framework that may serve as a usefulreference for environmental impact assessments and educational environment evaluations(includingexisting schools) in the planning of new school facilities. classroom environments, with a focus on road and railway noise. Since each noise source exhibitsdistinct acoustic properties-such as differences in frequency spectrum and sound pressure level-thepropagation of sound from outdoor to indoor spaces varies accordingly. In this research assumes thatthe primary factors influencing indoor noise levels are the indoor sound absorption rate and the areaof window and opening surfaces.
