ABSTRACT

This study aims to derive evaluation indicators and measurement items for estimating thevalue of ecosystem services in rice fields. In this study, the Analytic Hierarchy Process was used, andevaluation indicators were selected based on the content validity, quantitative measurability, anddouble-counting in value assessment. Ecosystem services were categorized into four major groups:provisioning service, regulatory service, cultural services, and supporting services, from which a totalof twelve evaluation indicators were derived. For provisioning services, two indicators were selected:food production and useful raw materials production. Regulating services comprised five indicators:climate regulation, air purification, water purification, water storage, and disasterregulation. Culturalservices were represented by a single indicator-provision of sites for ecological education. Supportingservices included four indicators: primary production, habitat provision, biodiversity, and nutrientcycling. It is expected that the evaluation indicators will be useful in assessing the ecosystem servicevalue of the rice fields.
