AB - This study, firstly, investigates the basic design type and special features of the shape and structure of The Grand People’s Study House in North Korea which corresponds to The National Library of Korea in South Korea and the people’s study house in the provinces that was unknown until now, the public library of North Korea with the combined type of school(student) library and public(adult) library in South Korea, and university libraries. Secondly, by analyzing the establishment background, documentary records and others, we researched the historical background of present architectural type and design, and the general difference from libraries in South Korea.
