AB - This study designed and applied a method for identifying the Expression entity required by KCR5 from KORMARC bibliographic records created under KCR4. Since re-cataloging accumulated large-scale databases under new rules is not feasible, this study utilized values already recorded in legacy data. From 453,846 Korean literature records held by the National Library of Korea, 56,749 works comprising 205,951 records with multiple bibliographic records were analyzed. Field analysis showed that expression-related fields introduced through RDA (336, 377, 381) had extremely low input rates and could not be used independently, whereas general-purpose fields such as 245, 700, 710, 250, and 041 contained natural-language clues for distinguishing expressions. After normalizing these values through regular expressions and controlled-vocabulary mapping, content type, language, and other distinguishing characteristics were applied sequentially, yielding 103,783 expression clusters, with 95.89% of all derivations occurring at the third stage. This study presents an empirical approach for converting large-scale legacy bibliographic data into an entity-relationship structure, and may serve as foundational research for Linked Data implementation and the assignment of expression-level identifiers.
