AB - This essay concerned with the question how we can understand a modern music work as the Psalm 20 for Orchestra by Shinuh Lee, premiered by BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Martyn Brabbinds in 1998. The Psalm 20 for Orchestra inspired of Bible, but written in a modern music language supports Audience with lots of orientation: great contrast of colourful instrumentation groups, the principle of forwards-stopping- movement and the traditional form with reprise. This study asserts that the Psalm 20 for Orchestra by Shinuh Lee speaks not only hope and belief, but also discouragement and frustration.
