AB - This paper attempts to examine the being of Dasein in M. Heidegger and the narrative in P. Ricoeur. According to Heidegger, the being of Dasein is Care(Sorge). Heidegger expressed the characteristic of human life as Care. This means that the way of being of Dasein is existence. And the meaning of existence lies in its “to be.” Also human as existence can anticipates toward death. At this point, human are disclosed as temporal being. And so, Heidegger analyzed temporality as the ontological meaning of care. These temporality of human life is expressed through his or her narrative. Therefore, in his book, Time and narrative, Ricoeur argued that human live not physical time, but narratived time. While human can live in time, he or she makes narrative of their own life. The narrative of one's life becomes the text of his or her life. The intention of these two actions is hermeneutics of the self. The final destination of hermeneutics of the self is self- understanding.
