ABSTRACT

What is the ‘correct action’ in sports? Is there another standard for morals in the field of sports? This study tries to answer these questions assuming a distinction between ‘correct action’ in sports and the common society despite having the same root of action standards. Moreover, members of a common society are restrained being provided the standards of ‘correct action’ commonly known as written law. However, because not every law can be applied in the world of sports, ethical standards should be built on this standard. An individual may assume that sports fall into the range within a common society but a critical purpose of ethics is to find a rational basis of moral decision and state distinctly if recognized. Therefore, I will discuss the following problems. First, the moral characteristics of competitive sports will be defined followed by the discussion of maximizing satisfaction through the comparison of the good sports competition paradigm with the ‘concept of play’. Third, the cultural and moral values of sports will be discussed and, fourth, prove the theoretical basis of moral justification in sports competition. Consequently, according to these considerations, sports have to set non-instrument non-priced logic that overcome unnecessary obstacle on the structure of sports rule in order to achieve a specific end. The sports give us a enjoyment by having challenges, concerns, and interests through a competition. Above all, I think that a endeavor get to the core of sports.
