AB - This passage is to diagnose what the department of philosophy in university faces nowadays in our country and to prospect upcoming future. It is an obligation for university to actively meet the needs of the times and the society and thus to create a novel academic culture. However, apparent is a prejudice against the mission and the justification of existence for academic learning and the university. Therefore, more objective perspective is demanded to diagnose the current location where the philosophy discipline is situated and to establish a long and short-term assignment within introspective position. Nonetheless, it is undeniable reality such social and periodic demand for a change of philosophy exists. From now on, the internal and external capability and also theoretical and practical exertion of the philosophy department must be performed as a very significant tool to make lives valuable and get on such situation of the day. Then the philosophy can contribute to the society and the humanity. Only with this, ‘our philosophy’ can be presented in an authentic way. In such background, this passage suggests new formation of the academic culture based on ‘sensus communis’ which would devastates ‘the conventional sense’, and ‘the philosophical fundamentalism’ proceeding to our way thoroughly not the following stance.
