ABSTRACT

This work aims to treat Schopenhauer's will to happiness as the core concept that penetrates the metaphysics, art and ethics. It is necessary to make clear the diversity of effect-history(Wirkungsgeschichte) of ancient, stoics, middle ages and religion. I dealt with the relationship between the desire and intentionality of the will on the luck. Schopenhauer overcomes the dualism of Kant's theory of knowledge and focuses on luck as a practical interest, inasmuch as he stresses the development of individual character in the life- wisdom. This work distances itself from the general interpretation of Schopenhauer as the agent of pessimism. I try to distinguish the will and ability and am of the opinion that the knowledge of his individuality and development of its own character are the condition of true happiness.
