AB - This work aims to treat Schopenhauer's will to happiness as the core concept that penetrates the metaphysics, art and ethics. It is necessary to make clear the diversity of effect-history(Wirkungsgeschichte) of ancient, stoics, middle ages and religion. I dealt with the relationship between the desire and intentionality of the will on the luck. Schopenhauer overcomes the dualism of Kant's theory of knowledge and focuses on luck as a practical interest, inasmuch as he stresses the development of individual character in the life- wisdom. This work distances itself from the general interpretation of Schopenhauer as the agent of pessimism. I try to distinguish the will and ability and am of the opinion that the knowledge of his individuality and development of its own character are the condition of true happiness.
