ABSTRACT

This paper has two purposes. One is to look if there is a way we can present a consistent reading of Leibniz’s dual ontology. The other is saying that the ontological structure of the Leibniz can properly be applied to Neo-Confucianism. That is supplying the proper interpretation of Neo-Confucian concept “心.” Conclusions are as follows. Ontology of Leibniz can be read consistently, and Leibniz's ontological composition can be appropriately applied to Neo-Confucian concept “心.” If “心” to be interpreted as Monad itself, that is the right interpretation(Entelechie+primary matter). If this understanding is correct, Leibniz's ontology is very prominent one as the Western philosophical interpretation of Neo-Confucianism and will be found to be a sophisticated ontology.
