ABSTRACT

Purpose:This study investigated therelationships betweengastroesophageal refluxdiseasesymptoms, anxiety, healthy lifestyle behaviors, and quality of life in adults with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Methods: A cross-sectional surveywasconductedwith143participantsbetweenJune1stand10th,2022.Datawerecollected using questionnaires and analyzed using hierarchical multiple regression in SPSS Statistics 25.0. Results:The meanquality of lifescore was 0.77 (range: 0.51to0.93). Quality of lifewas negativelycorrelated with the severity of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms and anxiety, and positively correlated with self-realization. Hierarchical multiple regression revealedthat age, gastroesophageal refluxdisease symptoms, andanxietywere significantly associated with quality of life. Conclusion: Age, gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms, and anxiety are independent determinants of quality of life in adults with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Implementing screening tools to identify and manage gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms and anxiety with appropriate interventions is crucial to improving patients’ quality of life.
