AB - 本稿では、韓国小説を日本語に翻訳した4種の作品を対象にし、その中に登場する女性た ちの言葉遣いについて分析を行った。韓国語にはほとんど表れない女性ジェンダ-標示形式が 日本語の翻訳作品ではどのように使用され、作品の中でどのような機能をし、女性ジェンダ-標 示形式の選択にはどのような要因があるのかを考察した。 まず、女性ジェンダ-標示形式の使用状況を見ると、常用、非常用、不使用の三つに分類 することができる。作品によっては、全ての女性に女性ジェンダ-標示形式を常用させている場 合もあれば、年齢や社会経済的条件および個人的属性によって使用させない場合もある。ま た、登場人物の属性や発話場面によって選択的に使い分ける非常用も見られる。 次に、女性ジェンダ-標示形式の機能と選択要因について分析を行った。選択要因には大 きく、年齢、上品さと丁寧さ、正統な育ちと行儀の良さ、発話行為の攻撃性を挙げることがで きる。まず、年齢においては、若年から中年までの女性は女性ジェンダ-標示形式を常用し、 老年の女性は使用しない傾向がある。次に、女性ジェンダ-標示形式の使用には女性らしさと いう規範が働いているが、これにさらなる加工を加えることによってより上品で丁寧な人物像が表 現できる。また、女性ジェンダ-標示形式の使用には、正統な育ちと行儀の良さを表す指標が 働いていたり、逆に上品な言い方ではあるが聞き手に対する攻撃性が含まれている場合もあ る。このように女性ジェンダ-標示形式の使用がキャラクターを特徴付けるのに何らかの機能を し、その選択要因によっても発話行為の質が異なることがわかった。 しかし、女性ジェンダ-標示形式を単一的に常用させることによって、キャラクターに変化が生 じる場合もある。方言話者をどう翻訳するのか、また女性は女性らしい言葉遣いをするという言 語資源の介入をどう調節するのか、これは翻訳家に課せられた課題だと、筆者は考えている。 今後の課題として、女性ジェンダ-標示形式の使用とともに丁寧体と普通体の使い分け、ま た聞き手や発話場面に応じた他称の使い方などについて分析を行っていきたい。
