ABSTRACT

Objectives: Park Kyung-ri’s novel “Land” is a literary work that can be analyzed from the perspective of a mobility paradigm. This work shows mobility factors due to the complex relationship between various places, situations, and characters through the movement of places in modern and contemporary Korean history. The purpose of this article is to analyze this work from this new perspective. Methods: This study attempted to analyze Park Kyung-ri’s novel land from the perspective of John Erie’s mobility paradigm. This article attempted to interpret literary works in various ways through the ‘mobility paradigm’. Conclusions: Park Kyung-ri’s novel “Land” was analyzed based on John Erie’s mobility perspective and methodology. First, the main character, Choi Seo-hee, examined the movement and process according to the ‘historic event’ by applying it to the mobility element. Next, centering on the main character, Choi Seo-hee, the shape of the characters, the change of consciousness, the complex relationship between the characters, and the intersection of emotions were analyzed in connection with mobility factors. Finally, the issue of the view of life was also examined by linking Park Kyung-ri’s novel “Land” with John Erie’s mobility perspective, influence, and Yi-Fu-Tuan’s topophilia perspective.
