AB - The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the term “multicultural families” on married migrant women and to suggest the need for the term “multicultural families” to be reestablished. In order to achieve this purpose, face-to-face and non-face-to-face interviews were conducted from November 15, 2020 to May 2021. The interview participants sampled 17 married migrant women with children who have lived in Korea for more than 5 years. Text analysis was conducted through R programming and visualized as a word cloud. Based on this, we analyzed the influence of multicultural family language on marriage migrant women.
According to the study, the term multicultural family is the first lack of pride in living in Korea in terms of classification and classification, the socialization of poverty, the need for benefits and support, and the low choice of minority-oriented terms.
Based on this, the following recommendations will be made. First of all, it is necessary to re-establish the term for families married to foreigners. Secondly, the use of terms should be accurate so that the terms “multicultural” and “multicultural families” can be distinguished. Third, when the government selects policy terms, it is necessary to eliminate and objectify the differentiation of terms.
