ABSTRACT

This study aims to develop intercultural education programs to help married immigrant women settle in Korean society in a proactive and positive manner. The research method involves comparing and contrasting the Korean folktale ‘Princess Bari’ and the Vietnamese fairy tale ‘The Three Sisters,’ which exhibit strong thematic similarities. Through this, the study seeks to propose teaching and learning strategies for discussing the cultural educational potential of these stories. This study will examine the similarities in narrative structure and conduct a comparative analysis of the components to explore cultural factors, ultimately creating a teaching model that incorporates assignments. This approach focuses on the interaction between the home culture and Korean culture, aiming to enhance self-understanding while fostering empathy towards Korean culture. It is significant as it provides opportunities for married immigrant women to establish a positive identity within Korean society.
