By analyzing the multicultural TV program ‘My Neighbor, Charles’, we were able to identify issues that arise during the transition to a multicultural society. According to the results of the broadcast analysis, we proposed the following recommendations. Firstly, it is essential to reduce the language barriers confronted by multicultural families that include immigrants. In order to implement this, we should increase awareness and accessibility of language support services. Secondly, it is necessary to add more specific provisions regarding ‘broadcasts featuring immigrants’. Thirdly, counseling services targeting host community spouses should be expanded. Fourthly, it is necessary to expand the role of local governments in the areas where immigrants reside.

This study analyzes the employment support policy and current status for marriage immigrants, and proposes activation measures to promote economic independence and social participation of marriage immigrants. First, we examine the background of the increase in marriage immigrants and the development process of multicultural family policies in Korean society. We discuss the positive effects of marriage immigrants participating in economic activities through the significance of marriage immigrants’ employment and related prior studies. We analyze multicultural family policies from 2008 to 2027 four times and compare the policy characteristics and achievements of each period. In addition, we investigate the employment status of marriage immigrants based on the 2021 National Multicultural Family Survey, and specifically examine the reality of employed marriage immigrants and job-seeking marriage immigrants. Based on this, we emphasized the importance of policy support for economic independence of marriage immigrants, and suggested the need for continuous research and policy improvement, and suggested several activation measures. We hope that this study will contribute to finding practical and effective measures to solve the employment problem of marriage immigrants.

Korean universities are adapting to globalization by expanding support for international students. While these students enrich campus diversity, they face challenges in language, academics, and social integration. This study explores how international student divisions can enhance multicultural education through tailored curricula, bilingual support, and cultural exchange programs. By analyzing cases from the U.S., Australia, and Japan, it suggests strategies for Korea, including flexible academic pathways and expanded student services. Strengthening international student divisions can boost Korea’s global competitiveness and foster an inclusive academic environment.
