ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors influencing the social participation of marriage migrants and naturalized citizens residing in Korea, and to examine whether an interaction between Korean language proficiency and spousal support produces a moderating effect. To this end, the study used raw data from the 2021 National Survey of Multicultural Families, jointly conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Statistics Korea, and analyzed a total of 15,534 marriage migrants and naturalized citizens. Using SPSS Statistics 25.0, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were performed. The results showed that both Korean language proficiency and spousal support had a significant positive effect on social participation, whereas the interaction term of the two variables was not statistically significant. This indicates that the two factors independently contribute to social participation and highlights the need for everyday Korean-centered education and family-support policies that actively encourage spousal involvement.
