ABSTRACT

A Comparative Analysis of Integrated Water Resources Management in South Korea and Canada. Asian Journal of Canadian Studies, 27(2), 85-104. The water environment of Korea is very vulnerable to water-related disasters such as floods and droughts, and the effects of climate change are becoming more and more serious. The first institutional step towards a watershed-oriented water management system based on national-level integrated water resources management was the ‘Framework Act on Water Management’ enforced in 2019. In this paper, we compared the current status and problems of integrated water resources management in Korea with the case of Canada, one of the advanced countries in integrated water resources management, to help solve the water problems that are expected to continue.
