Domestic and foreign Chinese cultural experts, scholars, and researchers established The Society for Chinese Cultural Studies in October 2002 to contribute to enhancing the academic level of Chinese culture and cultural research and disseminating research findings.

The association published the first issue of The Journal of Chinese Cultural Studies in December 2002. The journal was recognized as a registered journal in 2013 and has maintained its position since.

The Society for Chinese Cultural Studies publishes The Journal of Chinese Cultural Studies on a quarterly basis. It annually organizes the spring academic conference and participates in the autumn joint conference.

The members of the association are classified as full, associate, honorary, or group members. Approximately 480 people with master's or higher degrees are registered as full members.
