ABSTRACT

This article comparatively examines Korean minjung theology and Latin American liberation theology through the writings of foundational figures such as Ahn Byung-Mu, Suh Nam-dong, Gustavo Gutiérrez, and Juan Luis Segundo. It demonstrates how both theological traditions transformed oppositional categories within traditional Christian theology into areas of dialectical reflection. This process is analyzed through the lenses of epistemology, subject formation, and ontology. Specifically, this study argues that minjung theology and liberation theology resonated with non-dogmatic Marxism not as a form of economic determinism, but as a dialectical method for rethinking the relationships between faith and history, intellectuals and the people, and universality and particularity.
