ABSTRACT

The aim of this article is to analyze the public politics, that is the politics for the public opinion compared with the politics for the power. The activity of public politics is different from the power politics which is affluent in the institutional arena. The public politics intends to realize political goals by through(through) public opinion, whereas the power politics intends to achieve the power with the organizations such as party, political faction, coalition, united front, etc. Public opinion is the key to public politics, and public politics is the most important political activity in the civil society. The public politics has been complemented the politics for the integration of the society across the ages and countries in the world. Contemporary public politics also can complement representative system to realize the substantial democracy. This study is focused on the comparison between Hannah Arendt and Jurgen Habermas to show the contemporary meaning of public politics and the concrete operating system of it.
