ABSTRACT

Social enterprise is growing and it is attracting attention as an alternative to community problem solving. However, since harsh environment of the community, issues associated with sustainability of social enterprise have been raised. The purpose of this study is to investigate the roles of local government with sustainability of social enterprise in community. The support policy for social enterprise, because it has focused on job creation,is too simple and there is no system for social enterprise environment. Based on the problems of social enterprise support policy, the roles of local government can be discussed as below. First, for sustainable social enterprise, it is necessary to redefine the policy direction and goals where social enterprise can perform inherently the roles. Second, it is necessary to convert into the policy creating the environmental conditions where social enterprise can work themselves while mobilizing the variety of resources rather than promoting support policy focusing on the labor subsidies. Finally, for sustainable social enterprise, it is necessary to collaborate and effort with the various stakeholder in community relating indirectly or directly the social enterprise.
