ABSTRACT

This study aims to refute a common idea that peace movement is anunrealistic orientation based on idealism through a case study. The authorwill investigate a series of prior studies related to this issue and establishan analysis framework in chapter 2. Then, in chapter 3~4, he will examineand compare the pros and cons of South Korea’s troop dispatch to Iraqwith realist perspective. At the last chapter, he will conclude the debate asan interesting confrontation between the two contending realsims andpropose some implications for further study. Movement against SouthKorea’s troop dispatch to Iraq, which is a genuine start of peacemovement in South Korea, showed its realist prospect which is contrary tothe popular belief.
