ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to analyze social capital of the networked citizen of information society. This study manipulated citizens who use ICT and social media well as networked citizens. The research methodology is based on an e-mail questionnaire survey for citizens of Korea and Japan. The results of this study are as follows: First, the social capital of the networked citizens of Korea and Japan varies by detailed variables. Second, the most important variables in the political participation of the citizens of Korea and Japan are the generalized trust. Third, it was confirmed that the unconventional participation of Korea was a result of a fall in public trust. Fourth, the political participation of Japanese networked citizens is important for the interaction with neighbors.
