ABSTRACT

The era of social crisis caused by infectious diseases has produced numerous fears of death and has produced various violence. However, many violence is not recognized as violence, and there is no philosophical reflection on the meaning of violence. Therefore, this study is to examine the aspects and meanings of violence in Korean society in the Pandemic state, focusing on René Girard's theory. According to Girard, Social crisis brings about the extinction of cultural things and makes the respect for differences within the system helpless. And this helplessness produces preconceptions and, in normal times, makes a small number of people scapegoats and violence against them due to nothing. In addition, the violence of the crisis period is directed from the middle class to the distant group, and the concept of 'social abnormality' is created and the people who are far from the average social status are selected as scapegoats. Violence in the era of crisis caused by the outbreak of infectious diseases, such as hate and exclusion stigma, and numerous structural violence, must be avoided and avoided as a collective terrorism that makes unfair scapegoats. However, it is also undeniable that society has avoided indiscriminate violence that the whole group should deal with through the 'victim' s deception of violence that creates a scapegoat and focuses violence on them. We must live in the everyday life of fear and always preparing for the next pandemic.In this situation, we should be able to consider the times more objectively, and face the fact that there are crisis era, deception of violence and think about the meaning of violence again.
