AB - 本論文旨在理解中國古代的諡號,特別是春秋戰國時期諸侯的諡號並試圖從語義學角度考察那些具有貶義的諡號。
諡號是中國古代對過世的君王、貴族等的稱呼,一般根據死者生前事跡而定。這是東方特有的一種制度。諡號一經決定便不能改換,因此,諡號具有節制生前行爲,誘導行善的作用。
本文通過調查春秋戰國時期主要諸侯國君主的諡號,與可謂諡號之代表作的≪逸周書ㆍ諡法解≫的內容做了比較,然後選擇了那些<諡法解>中有解釋並用做諸侯諡號的詞語爲對象考察了語義。用做諡號的詞語,其語義可分爲肯定、否定、中性三種類型。難以讓人理解的是爲尊重死人而賦予的諡號怎麼會具有貶義?經考察我們發現,具有貶義的諡號,其詞語可能是個多義詞,既可用於褒義,也可用於貶義。不過,漢朝以後,儒家作爲國家理念, 人們對一部分只具有中性意義的諡號也賦予了貶義。也許這就是我們現在對一些諡號做否定解釋的根源。
