AB - Innovative online language typically has a short-term nature and may fade away after a period of time. However, the novel currency measurement units of online studied in this paper differ. The inventive application of these units has been in existence since 2021 and continues to expand. Previously discussed units of this kind resurface in the memory of internet users with the emergence of new currency units, rekindling public interest. This indicates a sustained influence and dissemination power of these novel currency measurement units within internet culture. In this context, the study examines the characteristics of novel currency measurement units and investigates the formal-semantic relationships between their combination methods, prototype structures, and developmental structures. Additionally, it examines their productivity, schematicity, and compositionality features. Furthermore, this study offers a crucial theoretical foundation for the innovative usage of these novel currency measurement units. Conducting such research not only enriches the linguistic resources of modern Chinese but also offers valuable references for a deeper understanding of the mechanisms behind language innovation. It is hoped that this research will offer insights for studies in linguistics and sociology and make a modest contribution to the inheritance and development of Chinese language and culture.
