ABSTRACT

AI, one of the core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, is currently causing major changes in our society. A representative example of this is ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence launched by Open AI in the United States at the end of 2022, and it has gained sensational popularity because it is a conversational model specialized in language. Then, at the end of January 2025, a Chinese artificial intelligence startup called DeppSeek developed DeepSeek-R1, an open source large language model, and created a sensation once again. What is particularly noteworthy is that DeepSeek developed AI with almost similar performance at a much lower cost than that developed by Open AI. Amid changes in the AI e c osystem, the author has been steadily researching Chinese poetry using artificial intelligence with interest. Previously, we considered ways to learn and teach Chinese poetry using artificial intelligence Jiuge and ChatGPT. This paper goes further and seeks to compare and analyze the use of ChatGPT and DeepSeek, which can be considered as representatives of open AI, in the study of Chinese poetry. To this end, we will compare the Chinese poetry creations of AI ChatGPT and DeepSeek, conduct a comparative study on the analysis of Chinese poetry works, and explore ways to use AI and future changes in Chinese poetry research.
